Synopsis

How can you continue living when you’re living a lie? How can you convince your body to stop feeling, your soul to stop caring, and your heart to stop beating?

Haunted by her past, Olivia Adler flees Boston for a beach in Florida, leaving everyone behind, trying to shut the world out. Remaining a relative recluse in her self-imposed prison, she tries to turn everything off, wanting to feel nothing. But a new acquaintance won’t let that happen. After being away from Alexander for a month, his voice constantly ringing in her head, reminding her that her inability to confront her demons will not only destroy her, but also him, can she really be expected to want to feel again when it brings nothing but pain?

Back in Boston, everywhere he turns, Alexander Burnham is reminded of Olivia… His Olivia… He tries to dull the ache left in his heart the only way he knows how… in the bed of a beautiful woman. But Alexander isn’t about to lose his Olivia. After a clue comes to light regarding Olivia’s whereabouts, can he convince her to return to Boston with him? When a force that has laid dormant for months resurfaces, can Alexander still protect her from the unknown danger? And when Alexander comes face to face with a shadow of both his and Olivia’s past, will he be able to tell her the secret that is threatening to tear them apart?

A Tragic Wreck is the continuation of T.K. Leigh’s heart-breaking Beautiful Mess series.

Excerpt

“Well, then, what do you want from me, Olivia?” he asked loudly, watching her walk away.

She spun around abruptly and searched his eyes. “I don’t want you to always feel like you have to come and help me, Alex,” she whimpered, her throat beginning to close up again, thinking about the man who was no longer hers. “I just want you to stand by my side while I try to help myself.” Her eyes narrowed, staring at him as he remained silent on the busy Boston street. “Do you think you can do that?” She looked at him as snow continued to blanket the sidewalk, desperately wanting him to say that yes, he could do that. That he would stand by her side. That he would forget all about her running out on him. And that he would do anything he could to make sure she never did the same thing again.

But instead, Alexander just stood there and stared, not saying anything.

Several moments passed, the silence deafening. “That’s what I thought.” Her eyes fell as she turned and continued to walk, shivering from the snow and the last shattered pieces of her heart being stomped on.

Alexander tried to open his mouth to say something. Anything. Tell her to wait. Stop. He made a mistake. But nothing came out. He knew he had just let the only woman he would ever truly love walk out of his life. And he did nothing. He watched his entire world fall apart and he didn’t do anything to stop it. All of a sudden, he felt more lonely than he had ever felt in all his thirty years.

Excerpt
“I might need some help getting all of this out of my hair. Do you know anyone that could help me?” She asked batting her eyes. Fuck, she was going to be the death of me. “I won’t bite I promise, not unless you want me to.” She said, throwing my words back at me that I had said to her before. She started walking back to my room and just before going through the door, she brought her shirt over head and dropped it to the floor without ever looking back at me. It didn’t take me long to make a decision.
By the time I had my clothes off she was already under the water. I could see the outline of her body through the frosted shower door. I swallowed hard before opening it up and joining her. She was facing away from me, and the water was cascading down her back onto that luscious ass of hers. I noticed she had a small tattoo of an angel’s halo, and wings on her left shoulder blade, and it looked sexy on her smooth skin. Stepping in behind her, I grabbed her by the waist. I knew she could feel how hard I already was for her. She pushed her hips back, putting pressure at the base of my dick. Turning around, she pressed herself up against me while she placed her hands around the back of my neck. She let out a soft moan as I rubbed the water around on her back and ass.
“Isaac, I know you said you wanted to wait, but I don’t think I can. I’ve been wanting to rub my hands all over your body since I first laid eyes on you. Please don’t make me wait.” She said in a pleading tone. I was so torn whether to be a good man and wait or to be greedy and make her mine. She must have sensed my inner fight I had going on. “I know we just met and you wanted to show me you could wait, but I need to touch you. We don’t have to have sex, just let me make you feel good.” Her hands were rubbing up and down my arms, and she was running her tongue along my collarbone. Shit, how could I say no to this?

MOONBOW by SHEILA HOLLINGHEAD Release Blast

Published December 18, 2013 by msbeccaanne
Happy Release Day to Sheila Hollinghead for her Inspirational Romantic Suspense Novel, Moonbow!!

Moonbow
By- Sheila Hollinghead
Genre- Inspirational Romantic Suspense

A widow, a doctor, an unborn child. Three lives are at risk in this high stakes suspense. Die Auserwahlten, the Chosen Ones, have impregnated Gisa with an embryonic clone. Is it evil or just a child? It’s up to Dr. Rayden Brooks to untangle the web that keeps them captive and save their lives. But will Gisa trust him?

A NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR-
Moonbow began as a literal dream. Bless (or curse) my husband. When I told him the strange story, he encouraged me to turn it into a book. I’m not sure if the final manuscript resembles the first shadowy images in the least. Writing morphs and grows into things we cannot imagine when we first put pen to paper.  I hope to continue the growth of the story and further explore the question from my dream: “Are some men born evil? What if they got a second chance?”

About the Author-
Sheila Hollinghead, an army brat, was born in Nuremberg, Germany. When she was ten, her father was stationed in Toul, France where she discovered a treasure trove of books hiding in the furnace room. The house was rumored to be the former headquarters of the Nazi Party with bullet holes decorating the foyer as evidence. The books, sci-fi, mysteries, fantasy, and the classics, opened her mind to the power of story. Today, she is married and lives on a farm in south Alabama with dogs, cats, and chickens. She agrees with Emily Dickinson who said, “I know nothing in the world that has as much power as a word. Sometimes I write one, and I look at it until it begins to shine.”

“I know you don’t do dancefloors, but would you make an exception and dance with me?”
His question came as a shock and her reaction to it was an even bigger one. Aside from being close to giddy, her stomach was weirdly fluttering with butterflies. Emily looked him straight in the eye. “You’ll have my back?” she asked.
Taylor grinned at her and nodded. “I’ll have you at every angle.” His words came in such a rush that he only realized the double meaning in them when Emily’s face turned tomato red, and a roar of laughter somewhere between amused and awkward escaped her. His hands instantly found their way to his eyes and, in true Taylor fashion, he began rubbing them compulsively.
“A bit of an overachiever, aren’t you, Tay?” she laughed heartily. Her teasing, almost hysterical tone didn’t go unnoticed; nor did her rising blush, which now flared beyond her cheeks, flaming her ears a deep crimson. Still, he could see the effort she maintained behind her cool facade, and he hoped he was doing a better job at concealing his own mortification.
Laughing humorlessly, he lifted a brow at her. “You know what I meant, smartass. No one will get close to you. Now, are you doing this?”
Emily giggled when another possible double meaning popped into her mind, but she simply dismissed it, for both their sakes. “I’d love to.”
Standing up, he offered her a hand. They walked side-by-side, and hand-in-hand, until they reached the edge of the dance floor where a DJ had taken over from the band and was now playing a remixed version of one of Emily’s favorite songs. From their position, they could see Zack and Toby dancing almost at the center of the crowd and Emily couldn’t have been happier when Taylor didn’t suggest that they join them.
There were people all around them, bodies pressed against unfamiliar ones, arms waving and bumping in the air and strangers talking awfully close to each other. In summary, the place was Emily’s worst nightmare. That was, until Taylor pulled on the hand he was holding, bringing her flush against his strong chest.
Carefully, he placed her hand on his shoulder and reaching for her other one, repeating the motion. As Emily knotted her fingers behind his neck, he snaked his around her waist, holding her tightly, and began to move.
Their dancing started slow, swaying movements from left to right as they gazed into each other’s eyes. The more they moved, the more Emily relaxed, both physically and mentally. There was something about dancing in Taylor’s arms that made her feel free and peaceful, almost as if the mob of people surrounding them had vanished.
Her movements became more urgent, and the few inches that once separated their bodies vanished. With her eyes closed, she was in her own little world, her head thrown back and her hands moving across his shoulders and neck in time with the beat as her nostrils filled with the spicy scent of him.
Taylor danced somewhat stiffly, but he had gotten everything he’d asked for and more. He was, in every possible way, wrapped up in her. His body was tangled with hers, his senses were overpowered by their closeness and his mind was completely overrun with thoughts that would have been scary and dangerous if they weren’t so damn delicious. The only thing allowing him to maintain his sanity was the need to watch their surroundings on her behalf. The task however, was proving itself much less demanding than he’d first imagined, probably an effect of their closeness.
The upbeat notes of one of Emily’s favorite Jason Mraz songs blasted through the sound system, placing a wide grin on her face. Moving against Taylor with her eyes still closed, she touched her cheek to his so her lips were in direct line with his ear. “I love this song,” she said loudly, but with all the noise around them, the words reached him as barely a whisper.
His fingertips dug a little harder against her lower back as her slim body curved and rocked against him and, for some reason, it seemed to make her move even more vigorously. In an attempt to divert his mind from all the places her movements were taking him, Taylor started paying attention to the lyrics both the singer and Emily were singing, but the very graphic words had the opposite effect. Instead of paying less attention to the feel of her body sliding against his, he was paying more.
Through hazy eyes, Taylor watched a layer of sweat form over Emily’s perfect facial features. Every bead of moisture was hypnotic and added a new layer of fog to his brain, and when combined with the way her lips curled around the words that stated every fantasy he should not be having, it made his blood circulate through fewer parts of his body.
Emily was singing the chorus when her lids popped open and her eyes focused on Taylor. His eyes were watching her intently, and through his barely open mouth she could see the tip of his tongue touching the inside of his bottom lip. He looked like something out of a magazine or maybe a movie, and for the life of her she couldn’t peel her eyes from his face and those lips.
He seemed to be just as entranced watching her as she was watching him. Their eyes met, both equally heavy and filled with emotion. Realization of what was happening and the terrifying implications of their actions seemed to hit them both at the same time, equally as hard.
Without removing their arms from around the other, they stopped moving and each took half a step back, successfully putting some distance between their heated bodies.
“I have to go to the restroom,” Emily said in a raspy voice.

AUTHOR BIO

Words have always been a passion of mine. I’ve always loved to read them, write them and learn them in other languages. Last year, I’ve decided to take that passion and turn it into a book, the result was Exception, my very first novel due this October.

Whenever I’m not sitting behind my computer, I’m either enjoying the company of my dear hubby, Alex, and our four four-legged babies or reading. I’m a firm believer in long hand written letters, love of any kind and good stories.

Meet the Characters

Taylor Carter could be described as the quintessential good guy with a temper. He’s caring, thoughtful, loyal and sweet to those allowed into his defenses. He’s the type of man that would go to the ends of the Earth and take extreme measures to protect those he loves. The problem is that he doesn’t allow himself to love very often. His past has shown him that people can’t be trusted, especially when you have what most people don’t. Therefore, he keeps mostly to himself.

Tay is 30 years-old, tall (6’2’’) and bulky, with chocolate brown hair and eyes. The strong, angular planes of his face are accentuated by a perfectly manicured stubble and a nice, big smile, one that grows whenever he’s looking at Emily. He’s a Canadian, but for the past decade he has alternated between living in the US and England. He has a PhD degree in fine arts with an emphasis on photography and modern art. Good coffee is at the very top of the list of things he can’t live without. His middle name is Ryan, but that’s something very few people know.

Emily Anne Watson is a woman with a broken past. Of all the things a person is exposed to in life, pain and heartache have been the ones she experienced the most. Those experiences have made her wary of people and scared of human contact in general. She hates being touched and having strange people surrounding her. Her safe haven is the tight nit group of friends that have become a family to her. They are the ones that can make her break out of her shell and show her true self. Despite all of that, she never allowed herself to become bitter and always strives to be a little sweeter than required.

Ems is 28 years-old, on the shorter side (5’2’’), petite, and has black hair and deep blue eyes. In all accounts, she’s beautiful. She grew up in California, but after some pretty traumatic experiences, she moved to New Haven, Connecticut, where she currently lives. She works as a book reviewer for a prominent lifestyle blog, and heads a study group and book club to some Yale students. Her favorite dessert is cheesecake, which was the inspiration to the nickname her two best friends gave her. She has a passion for all things Jane Austen and taught herself how to play the piano, something she doesn’t get to do much.

Zackary Clark is one of Emily’s best friends. He’s a single child of very traditional parents, who cut off all contact with him when he admitted to being gay at age 18. Since then he’s been on his own, counting only on his lifelong friend, Jody, and his aunt and uncle, May and Ben, who live in Vermont. He’s a pediatric surgeon and the heart of Emily’s group of friends. He’s very protective of Emily and has taken upon himself the job of protecting her from those that mean her harm. He’s tall and thin, with coopery hair and green eyes.

Jody Francis O’Connell is Emily’s other best friend and easily the glue that keeps the group together. She has no filter, none whatsoever, which makes her such a genuine person and a lot of fun to hang out with. Her parents died in a car crash, leaving her the family restaurant, Old Joe’s, to take care of. She’s been engaged to Bradley for five years and living with him for one, but as of right now, they have no plans of getting married. In a perfect match to her outlandish personality, she’s got red hair, big boobs and all the right curves.
