Chase Walker used to be a good kid—charming, athletic, and with a bright future ahead, but that was before travesty struck his life, sinking him into deep despair. Caught up in a world of drugs and alcohol, he doesn’t notice time slipping away until he’s arrested for underage drinking one night.
Fed up with watching her son destroy his life, Chase’s mom relocates him to live in a small ranching community with his ex-military grandfather. Chase is far from happy about the situation until he meets, Nikki, the cute cheerleader who won’t give football players like him the time of day.
Chase enjoys a good challenge though and sets out to claim Nikki for his own. He soon discovers she’s more than a pretty face—she’s a balm to his troubled spirit also. But when tragedy strikes Nikki’s life too, suddenly Chase finds himself put to the ultimate test. Can he trust Nikki, and all that she’s taught him? Will it be enough?
I RECEIVED AN ARC OF THIS BOOK IN EXCHANGE FOR MY HONEST REVIEW!!!
Wow!!! I just don’t know where to begin. I absolutely loved this book. From the moment I started reading this story I was taken on a emotional roller coaster ride like none I have ever experienced before.
I was pulled into this story from the beginning. Chase has experienced something tragic and because of that event and the way he handles it the all star football player earns a bad boy reputation. Chase never gives up on something that he wants and it doesn’t take him long to decide that he wants Nikki.
Nikki has been hurt by her ex-boyfriend and has also experienced tragedy in her past. She’s vowed to never date another football player after what her ex did. Chase is doing everything he can to get her to go out with him and he won’t take no for a answer. It doesn’t take her long to realize that there is more to Chase then what meets the eye. Maybe he really isn’t such a bad boy after all.
Lacey you are a wonderful writer. Your characters were believable with real faults and issues. This is a definite must read for anyone and everyone. Piece of advice make sure you have a box of tissues because this book had me crying my eyes out. My husband was surprised to see a book bring forth such emotion from me. I look forward to reading the next book in this series along with any other books you have written.
Title- Finding Chase
Series- Chasing Nikki # 2
By- Lacey Weatherford
Life hasn’t been easy for Chase Walker. He’s experienced tragedy, and at times he’s not sure he wants to continue living. But he made a vow to go on with his life, and he intends to keep it.
After getting a college scholarship to play football, Chase heads off to school, hoping his time on the field will help to bury the intense emotions that still linger in his heart. Fate doesn’t work that way though, and he soon finds himself having to face all the things he’s carrying inside, or he may miss the one shot he has to learn how to love again.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review!!!!
As soon as I started reading this book I was crying. I had a pretty good idea we’d hear about Nikki and deal with how her loss affected Chase, but I wasn’t expecting it to be just as emotional the second time around. Not only is Chase trying to deal with death of his dad which he never dealt with but now he’s dealing with the death of his girlfriend and how he’s suppose to go on without her.
Chase has headed off to college with his friends Brett (who’s his best friend and like a brother to him), Tana (Brett’s girlfriend), and Brittney (Brett’s twin sister). He’s in so much pain when he leaves for college. He’s made a promise to Nikki to live and a promise to himself to never love another person like that because he can’t go through it again. My heart goes out to Chase so much. He’s confident but scared and hurt too. Britt is a great help to him and you can see him heal with her help.
Chase is attracted to Britt but he’s scared of losing another person. She was the first person he noticed when he moved to town but she had a girlfriend and then came Nikki. Britt is attracted to Chase but doesn’t and she feels guilty because she and Nikki were friends. Soon Britt is all he can think about and he takes a chance and tells her. He’s scared to risk his heart but he can’t deny that there’s something there.
Lacey has once again taken me on a wonderful journey. I cried for Chase and his tragic experiences and then again later in fear. This book isn’t all tears please don’t think that. There are times that I found myself laughing and there is one event with him and Brett that had me laughing so hard I was almost in tears. My husband even got a kick out of it. I loved this book and all the characters. I think I enjoyed watching Chase heal with the help of Britt. Lacey is one of my new favorite one click authors. I can’t wait to read more of your books. If you haven’t checked out this series yet you need to do so now. You don’t know what you’re missing.
About The Author-
Lacey Weatherford was born in Ft. Meade Maryland while her father was serving in the military. She has been a life long resident of Arizona, spending most of her time growing up in the small rural town of Clay Springs.
It was while she was attending the small country school in Clay Springs, that she read her first “big” book at the age of eight. It was a Nancy Drew novel and Lacey was instantly hooked. She read every book that she could find in the series and decided that she wanted to write stories too.
Lacey spent a lot of time at the library from that time forward, even volunteering in her later teen years and early twenties. She would don a crazy clown outfit for the Friends of the Library fundraisers in an effort to help get the new town library built.
When she and her husband moved away from the area, Lacey took the opportunity to take some creative writing classes at the local college to help further along her interests. Several years later, they were blessed with the opportunity to move back to Clay Springs with their family. The town had finally succeeded in building their library and Lacey had the opportunity to be President of the Friends of the Library for a very short time, before relocating.
Lacey and her family still live in the White Mountains of Arizona, where she continues to write young adult novels that have a fantasy/fairytale or paranormal bent to them, as well as being sure to include a great romantic storyline!
